# Create your first workflow

A HUMΛN workflow is a governed capability you can open in Companion, edit on the canvas, test, and publish. This recipe uses real /v1/builder/* routes — no fantasy SDK.

Try it in Companion

Open Companion and say Open the workflow builder or Create a new automation.

On the blank canvas, pick Describe it.

Type an intent, for example: *When a support email arrives, classify urgency and draft a reply for human approval.*

Accept the proposal. Add a Human approval node if the draft omitted one.

Open Test → POST /v1/builder/workflows/:id/test with mode: dry_run.

Open Publish when the readiness checklist passes.

Command Plane /builder routes redirect to Companion. The builder home is Companion only.

Try it from the API

What success looks like

The canvas shows steps and a human gate — not an empty grey board.

Test returns per-node resolution (resolved_to, confidence, policy).

Publish fails closed if the readiness checklist is incomplete.

The same workflow id is callable later via HumanOS — workflows are capabilities, not orphaned JSON.
